Industry Extension Service
The Industry Extension Service at Ethio-Italy Polytechnic College is designed to strengthen and empower MSEs and MSMEs through systematic assessment, capacity building, training, and ongoing support helping them grow, compete, and sustain their operations.
1. Receive and Authenticate Enterprise Lists
Collect lists of registered MSEs and MSMEs from local partners such as Woreda/Sub-city offices and development agencies. Authenticate the information and verify legal status before inclusion.
2. Categorize by Economic Sector
Organize enterprises based on their economic sector/field (e.g., manufacturing, services, agro-processing). This allows for tailored support that matches enterprise needs and industry requirements.
3. Assign/Allocate Trainers
Select and assign qualified industry extension trainers (from college faculty and experts) to work with each enterprise or cluster of enterprises.
4. Sign Agreements & Conduct Situational Analysis
Enterprises and assigned trainers sign a service agreement outlining roles, expectations, and deliverables. Trainers then conduct a situational analysis to identify enterprise gaps in skills, technology, processes, or management.
5. Planning and Document Review
Based on the signed agreement and the situational analysis, trainers draft a tailored plan, review relevant documents (e.g., business records, production plans), and identify priority areas for intervention.
6. Organize Trainings
Design training programs that address identified gaps. These can include:
- Technical skills training
- Entrepreneurship and business management
- Technology use and adoption
- Productivity and quality improvement (Kaizen)
The goal is to enhance both human capacity and enterprise performance.
7. Provide Industry Extension Support
Deliver the planned services through hands-on training, coaching, on-site demonstrations, mentoring, and follow-up consultations. This ensures enterprises apply new skills and practices effectively.
